Style Spotlight: Leelee Sobieski Wows in Jil Sander, The Row and Maki Oh - Is This The New Tilda Swinton?

30 April 2012 by

Since her fabulous entrance in a Jil Sander floor-sweeping runway dress at the Vanity Fair Tribeca Film Festival party in New York a couple of weeks ago we’ve been keeping close fashion watch on Indie actress Leelee Sobieski. We’ve always admired her off-beat fashion choices and distinct sense of style, so the last fortnight has been a sartorial treat with Leelee taking to the red carpet nearly everyday!

Because, as well as her keen attendance at the Tribeca Film Festival, the New York born actress has been out promoting her latest role in the brand-new American TV drama ‘NYC 22’. The series which follows a group of rookie NYC Department police officers, as they patrol the streets of Upper Manhattan (ooh we love it already!) It premiered just last week stateside and co-created by Robert De Niro is tipped to be a big success.

Leelee has real style gumpshun and her risk taking has earned her a keen fashion following, after-all not just anyone could rock a Jil Sander catwalk look with the effortlessness that Leelee just did, not to mention that she went full throttle and copied the Jil Sander runway hair too; which we must add, is quite a statement in itself!

Leelee often makes directional style choices and bold silhouettes by the likes of Alexander McQueen and Alaia really suit her but we love how Leelee also calls upon less known labels like, by Boy. by Band of Outsiders (she recently chose one of their autumn/winter black gowns for a red carpet outing at the Tribeca Film Festival), The Row and Nigerian designer, Maki Oh which Leelee wowed in for the New York premiere for ‘NYC 22′ last week.

Leelee’s unique and distinctive look is like a breath of fresh fashion air and dare we say it she has a little Tilda Swinton star style quality to her...we just hope she keeps up the public appearances, because we can’t get enough!
