Alessandra Ambrosio Needed TWO Men To Get Her Victoria's Secret Wings On

Remember that bejeweled treat of angel wings that Alessandra Ambrosia wore at the Victoria Secrets show earlier last year? Well after spotting it real life at the Swarvoski Elements press day yesterday we are happy to confirm it’s pretty darn sparkly. Designed by Jenny Manik Mercian, it features 105,000 Swarovski crystals embedded onto the 23 carat gold plated antique copper wings. The Passion Play Fan Wings were inspired by a jewel box of luxurious, opulent gem tones making each wing distinctive and dramatic on its own. As a result they weigh a whopping 22 pounds. When you think about the fact that Alessandra Ambrosia herself is only 112 pounds – so the wings are a staggering fifth of her body weight – no wonder it took two men to help them onto the 25-inch-waist supermodel.

It makes you realize just how important the Victoria Secrets models’ exercise regime is. Adriana Lima admitted last year that the girls go through a grueling schedule in the weeks before the show, involving working out twice a day and following a carefully restricted diet. Having a strong core is essential to be able to carry the heavy props. Ambrosia’s angel wings even needed four men to pack them up into their crate after the show.

Last year, Swarovski Elements provided 2,000,000 – that's right, two million crystals – to create one-of-a-kind creations for the show. But don’t expect these to be dropping in the UK store when it opens in July on New Bond Street...
