Jean Paul Gaultier is set to bring some fashion flare to the Cannes judging panel
Jean Paul Gaultier is already busy creating pieces for Madonna's tour wardrobe and now, if rumours are to be believed, the Frencher-than-French designer will join the jury at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival next month! Women's Wear Daily reports Monsieur Gaultier will be on the judging panel at next month’s extravaganza alongside Italian director Nanni Moretti. Although unexpected, we rather like this prospect of having a splash of high-end fashion amongst the film world — it's certainly great news for us style-watchers and could mean a parade of JPG concotions on the sunny red carpet.
Will Kristen Stewart treat us to another dramatic gown at Cannes?
Speaking of which, the frockathon is set to be MAAY-JOR if the role call of actresses who star in the official selection of films is anything to go by. Tilda Swinton, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Chastain and Mia Wasikowska all star in films that are in competition to scoop the coveted Palme d’Or award at the 65th edition of Cannes, which kicks off on May 16th. Yep, we can expect oodles of glam glad rags!
We can also look forward to the appearance of Kristen Stewart and Kirsten Dunst as both ladies star in the film adaptation of 'On the Road'. Let's cross all crossables that K-Stew will work a mega gown as she did at the Oscar Awards in 2011 [above] rather than another snoozesome thigh-grazing mini-dress. Either way, as the face of Balenciaga's new fragrance (will those ads arrive already?!), we've got our bets on the actress sporting a Nicolas Ghesquière-designed number.
To add to the excitement, Twitter is hysterical with the possibility of Kristen Stewart gracing the same carpet as her teen-girl-dream boyfriend and 'Twilight' co-star, Robert Pattinson *squeals* R-Patz will be in town for his new film 'Cosmopolis', directed by David Cronenberg, and more man candy could be arriving in the form of Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey and Brad Pitt. Bring on the drooling!
