UPDATE: It wasn't long ago that we were excitedly reporting on the news that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are set to appear in Woody Allen's new film, To Rome With Love — and now we've heard from the design duo themselves! Oh yes, the lovely D&G boys spoke exclusively to Grazia Daily about their new venture and this is what they said:
'It was an honour to be asked to do a cameo in the Woody Allen movie, To Rome With Love. We're both passionate about film and it was an incredible surprise to receive Woody's phone call. We're in awe of Woody's work and to be on set, especially in our hometown of Rome, was an experience we'll never forget!'
Oooh, we're planning our chic cinema outfits already!

We already worship at the altar of Dolce & Gabbana so we rushed out to see their theatrical turn as priests in the film Nine, released in 2009. Now we hear news that the design duo are appearing in the latest cinematic offering by cinematic god Woody Allen, To Rome With Love. Holy smokes!
We got ourselves a sneak preview of the two in action when Swide (Dolce & Gabbana's very own online magazine) tweeted this shot. Here they are in a scene filmed at the Argentina Theatre in Rome - supposedly enjoying a performance of the opera Pagliacci - and we have to say, we think they look very convincing as entranced audience members (though we wonder how they feel about sitting anywhere but the front row...).
As you would expect, they look very smart in a pair of sharp suits (though we do like the robes they wore in Nine, below). The eagle-eyed amongst you will spot Mr Allen himself in a rare appearance on the OTHER side of the camera - and with a cast that also includes Ellen Page and Alec Baldwin, we think they're in for some serious box office success.
Bagging the cameos must have been a dream come true for the Italian designers. Though best known for their eponymous fashion label - which delivers sexy Italian style to many a celeb (Kylie and Madonna have always been big fans and now the young Lily Collins is jumping on the Dolce bandwagon) - both have always been quick to declare cinema as their second love. Luckily for the film buffs, they named Woody Allen as one of their 'great directors' when interviewed for Swide back in 2009. What a coup!
The film is slated for release in Italy on April 20th, but we hope it will hit our shores soon because we can't wait to see them working their acting chops. If you fancy catching them in action before then, you can always give Nine a spin. Check out the official trailer below...
