Last month, Karl Lagerfeld found himself in a right pickle when he referred to Adele as 'a little too fat'. Although the Kaiser is well known for his *ahem* honest approach, the comments caused a national outcry.
The designer was quick to patch things up, however, telling Paris' Metro newspaper that he is in fact the Brit singer's 'biggest admirer' and that his words were 'taken out of context'. Whoops.
And yet this still didn't rid Monsieur Lagerfeld of his guilt, so what did Karl do? He only went and sent Adele an entire collection of Chanel bags!
'Karl has been filming for the new YouTube Chanel TV channel and mentioned his plans to patch things up,' a source told The Sun. 'He told his team to send Adele the best the fashion house have to offer after hearing she collected bags.
'He said he really wanted to make it up to her so they could maybe work together in the future. He could see her fronting a campaign for Chanel Mademoiselle bags when the contract with Blake Lively ends.
'He's annoyed with himself because he ended up insulting her when he meant to compliment her. He thinks she's beautiful and calls her divine.'
What a lucky lady! And here we were happy with a measly olive branch. Come to think of it, Adele would make a rather marvellous Chanel muse with her old school glamour style and penchant for monochrome. What's more, Unkle Karl is known for his eclectic taste, casting Lily Allen and most recently Alice Dellal to model his luxe accessories. Either way, for a batch of Chanel bags, we'd forgive him anything.
