What took them so long? Andre Leon Talley, arguably the best judge ever on ANTM, has FINALLY been given his own show on Bravo. Hurrah!
Andre’s new show has a working title of ‘Fashion Stories of NYC’ and will, according to the press release ‘follow four up-and-coming fashion design teams as they produce the defining collection of their careers, all under the watchful eye of fashion icon Andre Leon Talley. The mission to ‘create, show and sell’ is clear for emerging designers striving to build a business in New York City, which remains the heart of the fashion industry.
So, we're excited. But we have two questions: numero uno - how did this not happen sooner?! Right? And, secondly: WHO could co-judge with ALT. Keeping up with the big man's well rehearsed put-downs and bon monts would be a tough challenge, but we’d love to see someone like Carmen Dell'Orefice take the reigns, with her wealth of experience and achingly fabulous cheekbones. Imagine those two together.
We also love the fact that ALT’s new show is set to take up-and-coming designers, rather than total unknowns (much as we love a bit of drama, we’re kind of tired of the shock-horror rollercoaster that comes with taking someone who has no experience of a given industry and plonking them right in the middle of a board meeting.) So we're super hopeful that this show might produce some genuine talent, rather than a flash-in-the-pan winner.
We’re imagining: an early episode of AbFab, mixed up with The Apprentice. Only really, really camp. But what about you? Excited? Or enough, already.
