Billy Zane with Kate Winslet in 'Titanic'
The weather may have been scorching outside, but things certainly heated up inside when Billy Zane turned attended Grazia Film Club’s screening of 'Titanic 3D' last night.
40 lucky Grazia subscribers – and their guests – packed out the screening room in London’s Soho Hotel for an exclusive showing of the blockbuster movie (3D glasses included), before it’s general release on 6 April. Before that though, the extremely dashing Mr Zane (who played evil Cal) stopped by for a special Q&A by Film 2012 critic Antonia Quirke in front of the audience, charming everyone in sight and speaking oh-so graciously about his involvement in one of the most successful films of all time. ‘A lot of critics were sceptical when we were filming,’ he insisted. ‘But, in a way, you want people gunning for your failure as it makes it all the better when it does so well. We knew we were onto something special.’

When Antonia asked how Billy felt about playing the film’s villain, who tried to destroy the doomed love of Jack and Rose (Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Obviously), he defended his character; ‘I think you can actually feel some sympathy for Cal. He did love Rose, right?' Hmm. He also revealed the film was shot in Mexico (who knew?) which he described as; ‘like being on Spring Break. We all bonded so much. It was a hard experience filming – very tough, cold and wet. But, I signed up to a film about the Titanic, what do you expect?!’
What a gentleman. The next Grazia Film club is coming shortly and with previous talent including the cast of 'Bridesmaids' and producer of 'The Iron Lady', you can be sure it’s worth it. Keep your eyes peeled online and in the mag for information.
