L'Odyssée de Cartier is no ordinary film. It is in fact a two-year-in-the-making short movie – and the first ever of its kind from the iconic luxury French jewellers to celebrate their 165th anniversary. And to match the brand's inimitable attention to pure luxury and detail within every jewellery piece, this magical motion picture doesn’t miss a stylish or glamorous beat – and it’s steeped in the brand’s rich history. Directed by Bruno Aveillan and featuring the beautiful Shalom Harlow, the Cartier team didn’t stop at simply relying on the cutting edge skills of their CGI specialists to make the film extra special, in fact, certain scenes required that entire replicas – like the plane – were built from scratch for authenticity.
Naturallement, jewellery plays an integral part in the movie, but this epic journey features other the familiar Cartier characters, locations and moments, too – the story circles around the legendary Panthère exploring the globe (the feline was first radically transformed into jewellery in 1914 and then made globally recognised by the brooch created for Wallis Simpson in the 1940s) to the founding store on Paris’s Rue de la Paix and the enduring appeal of the world’s first ever wristwatch, the classic Santos. In just three and a half minutes the Cartier world envelopes you.In fact, some comments on YouTube even state viewers' disappointment that this isn't actually a full feature film! So go ahead and escape for a few minutes, but don’t be surprised if this slinks onto television or in a cinema screen, Cartier are spreading the message of the brand's true luxury far and wide for everyone to enjoy.
