To be perfectly honest, they had us at the word Pug. But we were made much happier on hearing that these brilliant little creatures were designed by some of the biggest names in the business. Online luxury shopping destination Luisa Via Roma has teamed up with UNICEF to raise money in a campaign called "PUG DOGS FOR HAPPY KIDS"; to the point, we like it!
Luisa Via Roma have collaborated with teddy bear producers Steiff and twenty-one huge fashion designers to create one of a kind pugs, which will then auction weekly on Ebay for an amazing €1 starting price. The first auction begins today, and who’s up first? Queen of print Mary Katrantzou, the ever tough-chic Balmain and fashionista favourite, Valentino. So what did they come up with?
Mary’s Pug is a vision in brightly coloured flowers, Valentino’s Pug is wearing a red leather studded harness and lead, JUST like those T-bar heels seen on every FROW two seasons ago, and in true Balmain style, their Pug is bling’d out in baroque trousers, a gold and brass beaded jacket and belt. Marvellous! We can also look forward to more Pug greats from Emilio Pucci, Giambattista Valli and David Koma amongst others. The auctions will run for the next seven weeks until 6th of May, and all of the proceeds will go towards helping disadvantaged children in Bangladesh.
