Madonna hasn't got where she is today by sitting back and keeping quiet - so it comes as no surprise that she had an opinion on the controversial comments Karl Lagerfeld recently made in relation to Adele's weight. Talking to The Sun newspaper, the singing legend pulled no punches, labelling Karl's comments 'horrible' and 'the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard'.
'I don't like it when anybody says anything bad about anyone - I don't like it', the star exclaimed, referring to the now-infamous interview with a French magazine last month in which Kaiser Karl branded Adele 'a little too fat'. Madonna was quick to jump to her defence, saying 'Adele's a great talent and how much she weighs has nothing to do with it'. Karl has since retracted the comments, saying they had been 'taken out of context' and that he is her 'biggest admirer' but it was Adele's first taste of how tough life in the spotlight can be.
If anyone knows about making it in the music industry whilst under constant scrutiny it's her Madgesty, and she was quick to offer Adele some friendly advice, urging the singer to keep her 'integrity' and 'inner strength'. In an industry where many celebs find it hard to know who to trust, the musical mega-star had sage advice on who Adele should keep company with, 'friends and people who really do care about you...that's the most important thing'.
Adele might have had a bit of a rocky ride of late, what with Karl-gate and having her speech cut short at the Brit Awards but it's got to be good to know you have the queen of pop on your side. Well, would you want to go up against Madonna?!
