Holy smokes! We had only just calmed down after spying the whopper adorning Jessica Biel's ring finger yesterday and now Halle Berry has only gone and got herself a new bit of bling too!
After announcing their engagement this weekend, Olivier Martinez was quick to seal the deal in the traditional way (take note JT - 3 months late is NOT acceptable) ensuring the whole world knows that Halle is his betrothed. Ahhhh!
But this isn't your usual A-list sparkler, oh no. The couple have plumped for a shiny 4-carat Columbian green emerald set in gold with two diamonds incorporated into the design. And it's no traditional design either. According to People, Martinez commissioned his Parisian neighbour Robert Mazlo to make the ring which unbeknown to him at the time, was an engagement ring.
Lots of couples opt to have an inscription but Olivier went for a slightly different angle. 'The ring is textured and contains codes and symbols which you cannot see … only the person wearing it can,” the jeweller told People. 'It’s very uncommon. The symbols and codes represent [the couple's] story and only they can interpret it.' Ooh-er!
And while we totes appreciate the individual flair and thoughtfulness that went into choosing such a unique ring, we can't help but wonder how Ms Berry is going to work this statement jewel into her red carpet wardrobe. Afterall, she'll be rocking this rock for years to come! But it does make a refreshing change from the multitude of iceberg diamonds on platinum bands that we've seen soooooo many A-listers wearing of late so, snooze over. Hats off to Olivier for this timely and original purchase. But what say you - are you green with envy?
