Grazia Daily is giddy with anticipation to see Kate Middleton’s next outfit. Nothing new, you might say, and you’d be right, but! There’s due to be an extra special ensemble coming our way any day now.
Last week, the Duchess of Cambridge judged an array of footwear fit for a princess created by students at Leicester's De Montfort University - and the winning style she chose? A pair of blue suede shoes covered in white lace and delicate beading that she's set to wear for an unconfirmed outing (click here for our exclusive interview with designer Becka Hunt).
So what will Kate wear with these blue beauties? Unlike her beloved nude heels, the colour makes her sartorial choices a little trickier. Will she go matchy-matchy in a cobalt frock? Perhaps she’ll try some colour blocking with a touch of red or even yellow? To give our K-Middy a helping hand, Grazia Daily has browsed the Spring Summer catwalks for some style-spiration…
Nina Ricci, Carven, Erdem
Let’s begin with the matchy-matchy because it's the most obvious choice, no? The Duchess has made no secret of her love for the blue hue, repeatedly sporting sapphire frocks to match her sparkling ring – from the Issa number she wore to announce her engagement to the navy lace dresses when visiting Canada. We love this printed design by Nina Ricci, but if that’s too magic eye picture for the 30-year-old, Carven offered up a royal blue draped shift that oozes Middleton-ness. To be honest, we’d really love to see her back in more Erdem – isn’t this floral frock just divine? With the dainty gloves too, of course.
Mulberry, Erdem, Burberry
But to avoid Katy Perry Smurfette territory, Kate need look no further than a splash of Grazia yellow. We’ve already seen her looking resplendent in the colour – remember when the DoC wore that flippy Jenny Packham number to arrive at Calgary airport? And she’d look mighty summery, not to mention totally on trend, in the colour combo. What's more her favourite brands - from Mulberry to Erdem - have offered up some sumptuous choices.
Andrew Gn, Blumarine, Erdem
It’s safe to say this is another of Kate’s favourite hues and a white frock would be a great canvas for making the most of the vibrant footwear. Blumarine's Spring Summer 2012 collection proved this could be a perfect match and a wonderfully fresh and youthful option for the young Duchess. We reckon this lace number from Erdem's catwalk would be bang on the money. Or how about one of Andrew Gn's ivory creations? Lord knows Kate loves a good coat dress...
Roland Mouret, Carey Mulligan in Roland Mouret, Antonio Berardi
Finally, we throw a dollop of red into the mix. At the London Film Critics’ Circle Awards, Carey Mulligan reminded us this colour combo is a bold move that works wonders, teaming her Roland Mouret crepe dress with blue YSL heels. A crimson pencil skirt from the same collection would do just as nicely for our K-Middy. Or how about a dress + jacket from Antonio Berardi's collection? It would be such a treat to see the DoC colour-popping.
But what say you? We want to hear your thoughts on what Kate should wear with her blue suede shoes. Sound off in the box below...
