What is with celebrities and footwear this month? First we brought you news of Kanye West’s collaboration with Aussie designer Dion Lee, then we heard Agyness Deyn is creating a line for Dr Martens and now Madonna has turned her hands to the trade.
As Grazia Daily reported in November, the songstress has launched Truth or Dare by Madonna, a label aimed at an older customer. We've already been treated to a whiff of her first fragrance and now she's set to launch her own line of footwear, with the first collection dropping into store for Autumn Winter 2012. What's more, the shoes will be produced by high street high heel haunt Aldo while Madonna’s stylist, Arianne Phillips will be creative consultant so we’ve got pretty high hopes.
So what can we expect from Madge’s shoe debut? Starting from a purse-friendly £60, the 60-strong range is dance inspired and is set to include flats, heels and boots that will feature studs and cap-toe details. Ooh, jazzy! We particularly like The Great Gatsby-style T-bar black and gold heels - the retroness makes sense considering her directorial debut, W.E.
'Her fingers are really on this brand,' Arianne Phillips told Footwear News. 'The first thing I did was remind her of all the shoes she wore over the years, and we took the styles that we can’t live without. You can always depend on her to bring her style and provocateur quality, but she also has a very feminine perspective.'
We’ve also heard that Selfridges will be doing a Truth or Dare pop-up shop to coincide with the launch. Could an appearance from Madge be imminent? Here's hoping!
