Ever since Sex and the City left our lives (sob), there’s been a Sarah Jessica Parker-shaped hole in our hearts. Yes, we’ve tittered at her playing a put-upon mum in I Don’t Know How She Does It, there’s been the odd red carpet gown to gawp at and she showcased her interviewing chops to quiz Sarah Burton on designing THAT wedding dress. But still, we would like a little more SJP fabulosity in our lives please.
Sarah Jessica Parker at the Louis Vuitton show
So how pleased we were when the actress made a FROW appearance at the Louis Vuitton extravaganza earlier this week. She chose her best scene-stealing outfit – a white lace frock from the brand’s Spring 2005 collection, which cheekily showed off her black bra, worn under a pale blue cape, polished off with matching pointy heels and a glorious side-swept bouffant. Fabulous indeed.
But! More exciting than that, it looks like we WILL be seeing more of the style star as she revealed she’s mulling over a return to fash land. Whoot! Speaking about her stint as president and chief creative officer of Halston, she told WWD: ‘I don’t think my brief tenure would be called an exploration. I learned an enormous amount, it was invaluable, and I’m definitely curious about pursuing it, and we’ll see. I’m sort of figuring that out right now, actually, as we speak.’
Ooh, how intriguing. When Halston Heritage signed up Sarah Jessica in 2010, Harvey Weinstein owned the New York brand, but within weeks of each other, they both left. So might the Hollywood mogul be aiding SJP’s next sartorial step? One thing’s for sure, the pair were both spotted schmoozing at the Vuitton show so it's not entirely unlikely.

Speaking of her tenure at Halston, SJP did do a sterling job at raising the house’s profile. She was the queen of Seventies glamour, swooshing through the world’s red carpet in luxurious gowns at any given opportunity. SJ even brought Halston designs to the silver screen by sporting them in the second Sex and the City movie. 'It is a wonderful, thrilling challenge,’ she trilled at the time.
But in July 2011, Sarah Jessica left the New York company amid a whirl of speculation. A source from the company said she ‘had genuine passion for her work, but you can’t do both things—be a president of a clothing company and be an actress.’ Hmm, a year on, has she decided to put the acting biz on hold to focus on fashion then? Here’s hoping.
It goes without saying that Grazia Daily would be OVER.JOYED if the 46-year-old created her own clothing line. Besides, SJP Couture has a suitably fashioney ring to it, dontcha think? We’re already picturing sweepy gowns to be worn under sharp blazers, statement necklaces, mega hats and, of course, her new accessory of choice: ladylike gloves in an array of colours. Seriously, just think of all the beauties she must've been inspired by during her travels as Carrie Bradshaw.
Oh go on SJP, do it for the gals.
