Delfina Delettrez Talks Us Through Her Autumn Winter Jewels at Paris Fashion Week

Fine jeweller Delfina Delettrez is a rare talent that comes along only once in a while and manages to enthrall an entire fashion crowd whilst remaining utterly cool, under the radar and a hushed name on the lips of those who want to keep her an elite secret!

Understand this. Delfina's jewellery from afar is absolutely stunning, but should you have the pleasure of getting up close and personal with it, you'll never want to go back to other jewellery where every twist of gold or twinkle of stone doesn't mean something special. So Delfina (who as you may or may not know is part of the fashion familia Fendi) doesn't just create swoon-worthy pieces but something intimate and precious for every fortunate wearer.

That'll explain just why we jumped at the chance to catch up  one on one with Miss Delettrez after her exhibition in Paris last night of the autumn/winter 'Metalphsyic' collection, then! And this time it's like owning a piece of history...

Delfina has delved into the history of her home country Italy and in particular Rome to find inspiration for the coming autumn line. And for a genuinely italian feel, she's called upon the ancient artisan techniques of mosaic artists and marble sculptors to translate their age-old skills into something very modern indeed - miniature versions of their craft for necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings. That means smoothly sculpted real marble rings, or earrings that feature cheeky little columns or bib necklaces excavated from what could be mosaic chunks of a roman ruin. Even cuffs and chandelier earrings constructed out of statues broken-off fingers!

But her favourite right now? The expandable metalwork cuffs and chokers - as modelled by the lady herself at today's re-see over an argyle knit. "I like to wear them over things instead," she told us, "in fact, I like them so much I even wore them to bed!" You know what? If we owned them, we would too!
