NME Awards 2012: Alexa Chung in Valentino PLUS Florence Welch in Moschino!

01 March 2012

Just as we've caught our breath after the BAFTAs/Oscars/BRITs marathon (phew!) along comes the NME Awards! Last night, the music world's most achingly cool artists - and a fair few fashionistas too - flocked to London's 02 Academy in Brixton for the shindig, offering up a whole host of piccies for us to feast our eyes on. Be still our beating fashion hearts...

Florence Welch walked away with gongs for Best Track (Shake it Out) and Best Solo Artist, but we reckon she deserves another one just for the sheer brilliance of her Moschino Spring Summer 2012 pyjama suit (as we've already reported, this trend is going to be HUGE). If the afterparty turns into a slumber party, she's set! Clever Flo paired the ensemble with a fistful (quite literally) of rings and a selection of gorgeous necklaces from Dominic Jones - oh, the perks of being face of the jeweller's S/S 12 collection!

Meanwhile, Marina Diamandis of Marina and the Diamonds may not have scooped an award, but she did do a brilliant job at putting her trademark unique twist on this season's pastel trend in a girlie pink frock with a baby blue ribbon at the waist - although, dare we say it, it is a little panto. Where's the wand, Marina?!

Pixie Geldof, Nick Grimshaw and Alexa Chung celebrate at W London’s Wyld Bar after the ceremony

Oh Alexa, how DO you do it? (No, really? Call us!) Already rocking next season's must-have coat over the cutest of lace dresses (Valentino Pre Fall 2012, dontcha know), she manages to look cool and insouciant. Just the right vibe when you might be bumping into that famous ex (Alex Turner's band The Arctic Monkeys were nominated - and won - for Best Live Band).

For you Chart of Lust regulars, you'll know how excited we were to see Noel Gallagher at the ceremony (the love-in is mutual, FYI, Mr G loves a bit of Grazia!), especially when he scooped the Godlike Genius accolade. We salute you, sir!

Then the winners, losers and hardcore partiers hit Wyld Wednesdays at the Wyld Bar, W London Leicester Square, for a proper British knees up. Huzzah! Check out the gallery above of who wore what and let us know who YOU think was award-worthy in the outfit stakes...
