Diane von Furstenber?g’s Range for GapKids – Being Five is the New Chic

It’s stylish, timeless and oh-so-chic. No, we’re not still swooning over the latest Fashion Week show, but Diane von Furstenberg’s brand new collection for GapKids and BabyGap. And guess what? There’s not a knitted cardi in sight. Huzzah!

Whilst we’re still having nightmares about those matching dress + headband combos our mums insisted on, for little girls all over the globe, being five has never been so chic.

They’re already well ahead of the fash-pack since GapKids’ last two collaborations with Stella McCartney and H&M’s numerous designer partnerships in recent years, but DVF’s new kids collection really is top of the class. (Yep, we really did make a school pun.)

The collection is brimming with little versions of the classic DVF wrap dress and iconic prints, with a huge dose of playfulness. It’s packed full of summer essentials, from T-shirts, tank tops, shorts, leggings and even sunglasses. A navy strip seersucker blazer is customized with a  ’Diane von Furstenberg’ crest and badges, along with Diane’s personal mantra ‘Love is Life’.

And for the fash-baby? There are bodysuits, baby-grows, rattles… Oh. So. Cute.

The designer explains: ‘I wanted to go to the core of what the brand is and take print, and make them fun print and things that little girls would like.’

She said her aim was to empower the girls she was designing for. 'A little girl, the minute she is born, she already is the woman she will be,' she said. 'So to empower a little girl is to empower the woman she will become.'

The collection will be launching in the UK on March 28, after hitting stores in the US and Canada on March 15, and will be available for girls aged 2-14. ‘I am thrilled to collaborate with Gap on this playful collection for girls,’ von Furstenberg added. ‘It is timeless... colourful... effortless. That is very DVF!’

What more could a girl want?
