There’s no denying it. Charlotte Gainsbourg is one of the coolest girls around. Whether rocking Balenciaga on the red carpet, or keeping it simple in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, the French actress and singer always looks amazing. Vanity Fair agree, naming her the Best Dressed Women In The World a few years ago.
And this week, Charlotte – whose parents are Jane Birkin and the late Serge Gainsbourg, no less – let the world in on her biggest style secret. We know you’re all dying to know…how does she get that effortlessly stylish look? Er, by making no effort at all it seems. ‘I like wearing the same sweater over and over again, then taking it off when it’s really smelly,’ Charlotte told WSJmagazine. ‘Style for me is a casual way of putting something on. It’s not thought out but needs to suit your way of life.’
And she’s not the only one taking a more laid back approach to dressing. When Grazia caught up with hot new girl on the block Azealia Banks at London Fashion Week, she told us: ‘I wear whatever’s clean. I don’t have time to get properly fashioned up.’
Plus, in our exclusive interview with Agyness Dean for this week’s Big Fashion Issue, the supermodel admitted that her favourite hairstyle was when she had a skinhead – because it meant she could just wash and go. And talking about how she decides what to wear in the morning said: ‘It depends what’s clean. At the moment I’m just wearing jeans and a jumper.’
