Clever old Richard Nicoll. His presentation today offered a behind the scenes look at his latest collection. Standing centre stage in full view, the designer nervously tweaked his models collars and cuffs before sending them onto the catwalk. Grey shift dresses with electric blue colour pleating; perfectly cut silk shirts; sumptuous cashmere coats; and leather trousers in a mustard or burnt orange hue… It was chic and oh-so wearable for the modern working woman. 'I wanted to merge utilitarian workwear with work relevant day wear elements to create sensible, authentic clothes,' the designer said of his latest collection. It worked. Alexa Chung, who turned up to support the Brit designer, looked like she wanted it all. And best of all Nicoll had even worked out a way to make sure you never miss a phone call again. He’s teamed up with Vodafone to create a white leather bag with an in-built phone charger – and charm that hangs outside and lights up when your phone’s ringing inside. Genius!
