First stop on the London Fashion Week circuit is the Preen presentation, which a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Grazia Daily popped to this morning. Thanks to Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, Preen is now one of London's most distinctive and successful labels, with fashionable types from Kate Moss and Kirsten Dunst snapping up their wares. Last year, the design duo celebrated their 10th anniversary with a retrospective exhibition of archive pieces, sketches, original photographs and backstage shots - but what were the FROWers treated to this season? We grabbed the designers for a chat about their Autumn Winter 2012 collection...
Beatrix Potter in 1907
'We were inspired by Victoriana and Beatrice Potter’s botanical and nature drawings,' Justin told us. 'But Beatrice was quite radical for her time too – not getting married, heading out onto the moors on her own. She was an inspiration for so many women at the time.'
So who is their modern day Ms Potter? 'There’s no one particular woman, but all of the women multitasking between working hard, having a family and a social life. Our clothes are for those women.'
Preen's Autumn Winter 2012 Collection
That's us then! Indeed, the heavily embellished final pieces had us drooling and Thea told us they were her favourite pieces too. Meanwhile, Justin likes the colour blocked beauties that hit the catwalk first.
But thanks to a last minute drama, they almost didn't hit the catwalk at all. Two models dashed into the backstage area at the.very.last.minute, just as the audience were taking their seats, and were promptly whizzed through the hair and makeup departments. What drama!
And who should be on the FROW? None other than our beloved Olivia Palermo who, just like us, made Preen her first stop after literally stepping off the plane in London this morning. Of course, Justin and Thea were delighted to have her there. 'We think she’s gorgeous and she wears our clothes so well,' they told us.
Doesn't she just. Watch the style icon is action below as she reveals her Fashion Week wardrobe tips...
