London Fashion Week Launch - Sir Philip Green Pledges Another Decade of Sponsorship!

And we’re off! London Fashion Week has started and with quite a bang! First up, the news broke this morning at the British Fashion Council’s press launch that Sir Philip Green would be continuing his sponsorship on behalf of Topshop for LFW’s brilliant NewGen platform. He also pledged to personally get involved in seeking out two or three designers who he really wants to build from the ground up to make them internationally recognised fashion stars. We can’t wait to see who attracts Green’s attention…

Unfortunately the Prime Minister’s wife Samantha Cameron did not attend. Aww shucks. We were so looking forward to seeing what she was wearing…

In other LFW kick-off news the Somerset House grounds are absolutely thronging with photographers, videographers, people wanting to be photographed and filmed. And you’d be sorely mistaken if you ever considered the first day of LFW as casual. Hell no! We’ve witnessed some Nicky Minaj-esque Barbie doll-types with lilac hair, heels so fierce they’ll scare the cobbles and lots and lots of pastels… A big trend in the making! Watch this space.

So, what’s on the schedule for today? A quick trip to a Preen appointment, Emilia Wickstead, Bora Aksu and Zoe Jordan shows, maybe a leeeetle bit of lunch and then onto Felder.Felder, PPQ, Basso&Brooke and lots lots more. Stay with us! And don't forget to tune into our live streaming of the shows HERE!
