First look: Nicole Richie for QVC!

17 February 2012 by

As Grazia Daily reported back in November, Nicole Richie is joining the ranks of Rachel Zoe and Joan Rivers by designing a line for home shopping behemoth QVC. ‘The Nicole Richie Collection’ will debut on the network’s ‘The Buzz on the Red Carpet — Live From L.A’ show which airs on February 24th. And we have the first pics!

As we predicted, the collection is kind-of exactly what you’d expect (and want) from Richie – lots of floaty, billowy shapes and delicate prints; in many ways it’s like Ossie Clarke and Rachel Zoe got into bed together. There are some lovely chiffon dresses, in delicate vintage-y prints, accessorised with gigantic leather hobo bags.

Talking about the collection’s key piece – an Ossie Clarke-esque maxi – Richie said ‘It was important for me to do a version for QVC because it can be worn so many ways. I paid close attention to the seams to give a woman a nice shape, because a lot of maxidresses can feel tent-y’. She added ‘I want to connect with the women watching by letting them know that we are similar in many ways; I’m a mother of two and I work. We all want to feel relaxed on the inside but stylish on the outside. And that’s what I’m trying to provide’.

Nicole has worked hard over the past few years to establish herself as a bona fide fashion designer, rather than a reality-star-turned-designer. As well as her House of Harlow 1960 jewellery label, she also has her Winter Kate clothing brand, and rumours were abound before Christmas that she was set to become the new face of Halston. So this affordable line for QVC seems, to us, like a perfect step in her plan to establish herself as a star of the fashion world.

Four words: Rachel. Zoe. Watch. Out.
