Well HELLO Miss Renn! Crystal Renn, a lady once famed for eschewing the mould of skinny models, before becoming super-famous just for being completely gorgeous in her own right, has appeared in the latest Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. And she looks fab!
In gracing the pages of Sports Illustrated, Crystal now joins the ranks of models who have bare almost all for Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Edition – including Cheryl Tiegs, Christie Brinkley, Elle Macpherson, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Stephanie Seymour. The special swimsuit edition started life in 1964 and has been credited with bringing the bikini into the mainstream, as well as arguably being THE springboard for supermodel-dom.
Crystal, of course, shot to fame in 2009 as a plus-sized model with her memoir ‘Hungry’. In the book, she charted the way in which she had struggled with anorexia whilst working as a model in her teens, before putting on weight and finding fame as a US size 12. Since then she’s lost some weight – crediting a healthy lifestyle and zeitgeisty things like yoga – and her career has gone stratospheric, modelling for literally EVERYONE from H&M to Chanel, whilst effectively straddling the line between plus-sized and non plus-sized. In a space arguably called ‘normal’. Normal, only gorgeous.
