It can’t have escaped your notice that there are a lot of ladies donning high street dresses before sashaying down the red carpet these days. From Poppy Delevigne’s appearance on the red carpet last night in (not yet released but completely amazing) Mary Katranzou for Topshop and Ursula Mascaro for Zoë Jordan shoes, to Sharon Stone’s famous appearance at the Oscars wearing a crisp Gap shirt, the red carpet is no longer the preserve of high end designers – not that we don’t love us some high-end designer clothing, don’t get us wrong – but we also like the idea that fashion is a nice wide field for everyone to play on.
Of course, we thought Michelle Williams looked super cute in custom designed H&M at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday, we loved Emma Roberts appearance in Topshop at the British Independent Film Awards, back in 2001, we reckoned Sandra Bullock looked gorgeous in gold All Saints when she attended the 2011 AmfAR gala and we loved – LOVED we tell thee – Ginnifer Goodwin’s bold green Topshop Unique dress which she chose to wear to the MET gala last year; a sure sign that the high street has been accepted into the international fashion stage.
So check out our all the above in our gallery of our favourite high street red carpet looks, along with Rooney Mara rocking an ASOS jumpsuit, Rumer Willis looking smoking in a lace sleeved French Connection dress, Kirsten Dunst looking angelic in Rodarte for GAP and Lea Michelle smouldering in a navy blue lace dress, also by ASOS. Don’t forget to let us know what you think!
