UPDATE! In harsh economic times how great is it that the Duchess of Cambridge is waving the flag for affordable High Street fashion? And what is even MORE fabulous is that Oasis have confirmed that the dress Kate was wearing yesterday [below] is in fact past season stock - proving the DoC’s ability to rework old wardrobe faves. Oasis told Grazia Daily this morning, 'this is an old dress from a few seasons ago; we are unsure on the exact date.'
UPDATE! The Hobbs coat is off. Repeat: the Hobbs coat is OFF! And we can reveal that underneath, Kate Middleton is wearing a black polo neck, knee-length dress. Ooh. Fans on the brilliant Kate Middleton Style Blog reports that the dress is another high-street hit - this time from Oasis. Can it really be true? Stay tuned Kate-a-holics!
Hubby Prince William may not be with her on Valentine's Day, but the Duchess of Cambridge is doing a grand job of representing the Royals today. Kate has just stepped out at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool for her second solo public engagement - so what's she wearing?
WELL, we know her knee-length winter coat in sumptuous chestnut-brown is from highstreet hero Hobbs. Hurrah! On the British brand's website, it's described as a 'double crepe wool coat' that 'subtly flares from the hips'. It's adorned with leather stud fastening cuff straps and a matching belt to clinch her waist.
Underneath the coat, Kate is wearing a black polo neck jumper with and matching tights (it's rather chilly in Liverpool today) and she's accessorised her cosy-but-chic look with a simple black clutch and heels. As for a touch of bling, Kate's wearing the same Kiki Mcdonough earrings that we saw on Christmas Day. Her hair is in true Middy style: loose and impossibly glossy, natch.
According to Social Beautify, Kate snapped up the Unlimited Celeste Flared Coat when she was shopping at the Hobbs store on Sloane Square in September last year. At the time it was being sold for £369 - but guess what? It's on SALE and you can buy it NOW for £182 at www.hobbs.co.uk.
You'll remember for her first solo outing without William at the National Portrait Gallery, the DoC chose to wear a grey coat dress by Jesire, a brand that is now defunct, so three cheers to Kate for wearing an outfit that's a whole lot easier for the Kate-a-holics to copy-cat.
UPDATE: Hobbs are understandably delighted too! Grazia Daily spoke to Hobbs Chairman, Iain MacRitchie, this afternoon. 'We are delighted to see our designers getting recognition for their creative talent and the Hobbs brand credentials,' he told us. 'With the UK's strength and depth of contemporary British designer fashion it is fantastic to see this important industry increasingly getting a worldwide profile.' Unsurprisingly, the coat has sold out online today, but there are still some available in London stores. So go go GO!
Stay tuned to Grazia Daily as we bring you the latest updates from Kate's busy day. First, she's meeting children being treated for cancer and burns injuries at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. Then she will be paying a visit to a charity, which provides free accommodation for visiting families. AND THEN she'll be visiting an alcohol-free bar run by the Action on Addiction charity, of which she is a patron. What a good Duchess she is!
