When Shailene Woodley stepped onto the Golden Globes red carpet in that silver Marchesa gown, we all swooned at the gorgeousness of The Descendants star. And, after towering along in sky-high shoes for the duration of the awards show, the young actress - who once told Grazia ‘I am not a heels person! I can handle heels for about ten minutes and then they come off!’ - changed into something a little more, err, comfortable for the after-party. Yep, she traded her Tabitha Simmons heels for a pair of Vibram 'Five Fingers' shoes and consequestly caused a fashion backlash.
But c'mon, we’ve all been there. Well, not quite there, as in at the Golden Globes, but who hasn't sneakily swapped their heels for a comfy flats? Exactly. So we applaud Shailene for standing up to the criticism she received for her footwear by saying, ‘I would do it again in a heartbeat’. And she didn't stop there.
'If people spent as much time thinking about the genocides going on in Africa and around the world as they do the shoes that actors wear to after-parties, the world would be a much more peaceful environment.’ You go, girl!
Shailene has clearly taken a leaf out of George Clooney’s philanthropic book and she's certainly doing something right because the Cloonster has joked about wanting to adopt little Woodley. Aw! ‘If George Clooney adopted me, I would be the most brilliant human being on the planet, because he is so friggin’ smart,' the actress said. 'I would know everything there is to know about politics. And, I would live in Italy!’ And presumably wear a lot of five-toed shoes...
