Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexa Chung, Lindsay Lohan at AmfAR's Benefit Gala: GALLERY

09 February 2012

The 2012 amfAR Benefit Gala, held in New York last night, marked the start of New York Fashion Week and in true glitzy style, the red carpet was adorned with celebrities putting their best foot forward in the fashion stakes...

Heidi Klum made her first public appearance since announcing her split from Seal and was noticeably still wearing her wedding ring. She was also sporting a full-length sequined Roberto Cavalli dress. The Italian designer himself was honoured at the event for his outstanding contribution to the fight against AIDS, so it wasn't surprising to see other attendees donning his designs – Liz Hurley, Cindy Crawford and Jennifer Hudson all followed Heidi's lead.

The black-tie event was hosted by none other than one of our favourite fashionistas, Sarah Jessica Parker. SJP wore a beautiful pink gown by Oscar De La Renta, with bejewelled neckline detail and she wisely covered up on the red carpet, accompaning her outfit with a Theyskens Theory black leather jacket to ward off the NY chill.

Striding ahead for fashion credentials was our girl-crush-of-the-moment, Rose Byrne. The Bridesmaids star looked stunning in an Alexander McQueen cream and black lace dress and can we just point out how much we’re loving her totally on trend bangs?

As for the usual New York darlings, they were out in full force. Super cool NY-based DJ and model Leigh Lezark was in a non-black-shocker, looking elegant in Chanel while Gossip Girl actress Leighton Meester wore a Louis Vuitton LBD with a difference – check out the black fur patches at each side of her dress.

AmfAR is the American Foundation for Aids Research and the gala is held on the eve of New York Fashion Week to honour individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the fight against AIDs and to raise funds for much needed research. With the top tables going for $75,000 and a live auction of luxury items, we're sure they did well!
