The Queen's Diamond Jubilee – Celebrating 60 Seriously Stylish Years with HRH

06 February 2012 by

Thousands fly around the world just to get a glimpse of her, she’s a source of fash-piration for the likes of Anna Dello Russo and, with that jewellery collection, nobody does ‘bling’ quite like her. No, we’re not talking about Miss Piggy, but our very own British Style Queen. And Queen of well, everything, really – HRH Elizabeth II, who became our monarch 60 years ago today.

In honour of her – let’s face it – pretty impressive milestone, Liz and her Royal clan are unashamedly celebrating for the entire year as of today with a series of events. This will include trips all over the world, a tour of Britain with hubbie Prince Philip and an actual pageant over the 2012 Diamond Jubilee weekend in June - featuring a 1,000-strong flotilla (posh boat to you and me) and a - *gasp* - BANK HOLIDAY. Hurrah!

Our Queenie knows as well as we do that, when it comes to partying, it’s the frock that comes first. And, oh-boy, does Liz know how to work it. She’s carried off more colours than we’ve had hot dinners in her signature uniform of a demure tweed coat and classic courts, and even Anna Dello Russo is jealous of Her Majesty’s millinery collection (which is almost as diverse as her own). The editor-at-large and creative consultant of Vogue Japan is so in awe of her, she told Grazia’s very own Paula Reed that Elizabeth II ‘is my all-time fashion icon. She has the best jewels.’ Who could disagree?

So, in honour of the Queen of Fash, we’ve picked out our favourite Royal looks just for your pleasure. Scroll through the gallery above and prepare to feel seriously proud to be British…
