How The Stars Got in the Super Bowl Spirit: Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Alexa Chung

Now, we're not usually fans of American football, but when you've got a near-naked David Beckham + Madonna in Givenchy Couture + Rooney Mara watching from the wings, you've got our interest. Yep, you may have noticed there was a little football game going down in the US last night — and our friends from across the pond were well and truly getting into the Super Bowl spirit...

For starters, check out Katy Perry doing her kooky thang at the mega match. She showed off her sporty side by dressing up in her favourite team's colours courtesy of an outfit that consisted of a Giants-inspired mini-dress under a jacket with her surname emblazoned across the back. And her new blue bob worked brilliantly with the look. How handy!

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga proved her love for the game by using a pigskin for a bra. Uh-huh. Once again, she was posing for Terry Richardson's lens, while topless, with just a football strategically placed over her little monsters. Saucy snapper Terry posted the black and white image on his blog with the caption, "Lady Gaga holding a football...Go Giants." Lady G expressed her excitement on her own Twitter feed too:

Also getting in on the football fever was Whitney Port who was inspired to make Super Bowl-themed desserts and appetizers. "If I learned anything from my Super Bowl internet quest, it’s that some people get REALLY aggressive when prepping for game day," she said on her blog. Yikes!

Sporting a ladylike floppy hat, Paris Hilton celebrated the event at Steve Wynn's Super Bowl party with her parents. Aww.

As for our very own Alexa Chung, she was enjoying the game while getting her nails done (that's our kinda gal). We hope she was making like her pal Zooey Deschanel and getting a set of appropriatley themed digits.

Let's not forget Eva Longoria who outshone everyone by creating her very own Super Bowl scorecard. We kid you not. The Desperate Housewives actress tweeted her amazement at Madonna's extravaganza:

Hear hear! And Eva wasn't the only one singing Madonna's praises. Sharon Osbourne excitedly wrote:

...while Rosie O'Donnell kept it simple, writing:

So do tell: did you watch the Super Bowl last night? Don't forget to check out Madonna's gob-smacking 12-minute performance and, of course, David Beckham's droolsome commercial. Maybe we'll start reconsidering our no-football rule...
