Hollywood glamazons, floor-length satin gowns and red pouts aplenty. No, we're not talking about the Oscars red carpet — it's the 2012 Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair drenched with our favourite leading ladies. Yep, the girls are officially back in Tinseltown.
Not only is this very first Vanity Fair cover to be shot by legendary photographer Mario Testino, but it features a three-page fold-out of the hottest up-and-coming (and so-already-there — hello, Rooney Mara) stars that are set to take the film world by storm this year.
So who've we got aside from our beloved Rooney, in a PINK gown no less? Well, there's the current face of Miu Miu, Mia Wasikowska looking veeery Marilyn Monroe-ian, Jessica Chastain from 'The Help' with a fabulously glossy waves, as well as Jennifer Lawrence (can March hurry up already — we want to see her brunette locks in ‘The Hunger Games’). Can you spot Elizabeth Olsen, aka Girl of The Moment, making an appearance alongside Shailene Woodley of 'The Descendants’ fame? And there's Felicity Jones doing it for us Brits, while Lily Collins is looking suitably Snow White-esque. Plus, indie queen Adepero Oduye, Sundance darling Brit Marling and 'Mission Impossible'’s Paula Patton. Phew, try saying that in one go!
We can also reveal that Rooney, Mia and Shailene are all clad in Ralph Lauren's Spring/Summer 2012 which looked ah-mazing on the catwalk!
And so it's official. After seeing Marion Cotillard in an embellished headband for her role as a flapper girl in 'Low Life', as well as Carey Mulligan and Gemma Ward getting Twenties-tastic for 'The Great Gatsby', we can proclaim that 1920s style is well and truly taking over. One thing's for sure, we can’t get enough of this art deco, jazz age, flapper fashion and we'd rather like Rooney’s flapper black bob to go with it please. Quite honestly, we can't decide what we’re more obsessed with: the wonderful actresses, the pretty pastels, the faaabulous stoles, the bouffanty hair or the sultry make-up. Oh okay, we love it all.
