Meryl Streep Is The Most Nominated Person in Oscars History: We Review Her Best Moments

When Meryl Streep was nominated for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in the Iron Lady last week she set a new record. No, not for getting the whole world debating Thatcher’s record as PM – but for being the most nominated person in Hollywood history. Man or woman!

Despite her rostra of nominations Streep’s only one two Oscars in her time. In 1979 she looked incredibly nervous as she picked up her award for Best Supporting Actress for Kramer vs Kramer. Then in 1983 she won the big one – Best Actress for her performance in Sophie’s Choice.

Both her winning speeches have been short, sweet but surprisingly emotional… so if, as every Hollywood insider predicts, she picks up the statue for the Iron Lady we can expect great things. And what about what she’ll wear? Well in honour of her pretty amazing acting record we thought it was worth taking a look at Meryl’s inimitable style through the ages. She’s certainly ticked more than a few trend boxes.
