Sparkles, fur stoles and embellished headbands!? It could only be another flapper film that we’re beyond excited about.
We couldn't get enough of these on-set snaps which emerged this morning. They show French actress Marion Cotillard filming in New York for a yet-to-be titled movie – rumoured in film circles to be called ‘Low Life’. We can't help but applaud a woman who manages to pull off that ‘I’m on a cold set and a blanket’ look so brilliantly (we feel your pain, Marion, it is frrr-eeezing).
As for the film, follows a naïve immigrant woman from Poland who falls into the dark burlesque lifestyle en route to the American Dream. While on their way to New York’s Ellis Island, Sonya Cybulski’s (Cotillard) sister grows ill and she finds herself lured by the promises of a better life by resident lowlife Bruno Weis, played by Joaquin Phoenix. Cue some romantic drama that will save her in the form of hardman-turned-magician, Jeremy Renner. Oh err.
Okay, the story sounds a tad bizarre but we’re excited, if only for those over-the-top those flapper costumes and Marion's rouge lipstick. Of course, 1920s style is all the rage this season, as our very own Paula Reed reported in last week's issue of Grazia. And with a remake of 'The Great Gatsby' coming out at the end of this year, the catwalk steps up to lend a hand with your art deco wardrobe of flapper dresses with all the trimmings, from Gucci to Marc Jacobs. And let's not forget Marion's fab headband. As Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams proved at the Golden Globes earlier this month, they're the perfect accessory for adding a little quirk to your look. Yep, it's time to get Twenties-tastic.
