The Best Dressed at the Screen Actors Guild Awards 2012 — Emma Stone in Alexander McQueen, Angelina Jolie in Jenny Packham

The latest stop on this year's Awards Season voyage is the Screen Actors Guild Awards, fondly termed the SAGs. The glitzy ceremony took place in LA last night with all the usual suspects gracing the red carpet, from Brad and Ange to Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman.

Never one to play it safe, Emma Stone sported a midi-length black number from our very own Alexander McQueen, teamed with a skull and horse clasp clutch plus strappy heels. It made a refreshing sight amongst the sea of floor-sweepers. Amber Heard, Ashlee Simpson and - shock, horror! - Angelina Jolie also went dark and dramatic in black gowns, with both Angelina and Ashlee opting for noir designs by Jenny Packham.

On the flip side, the bridal trend we saw at the Golden Globes was still going strong thanks to Zoe Saldana, Kelly Osbourne and Viola Davis who both wore white. So praise be for Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain who provided the frock parade with a splash of colour courtesy of their green and blue frocks. And let's not forget Michelle Williams who went all Lady in Red on us thanks to a dose of lacy Valentino, securing her a place in today's Best Dressed lists.

The surprise of the night came from Tilda Swinton. No, she wasn't wearing a typically bonkers, Swintonian power suit — quite the opposite, in fact. The actress was uncharacteristically modest in a minimalist white dress by Lanvin. Perhaps she's saving the wackiness for Oscar night? Or maybe she heard Rose Byrne would be stealing her androgynous thunder in a terrific ensemble by Elie Saab? The Brit actress looked incredible wearing a fully-embroidered jumpsuit with structured shoulders from the designer's couture collection.

Either way, it's time for you to wade into the debate. Have a flick through the gallery of gowns above and let us know who should be crowned The Best Dressed er, SAGer...
