It’d be crazy to doubt that Victoria Beckham’s launch for her new sister range ‘Victoria’ in Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge yesterday would be anything other than till-ringingly, Twitterly and obsessively MASSIVE. With our exclusive hose-down of the entire collection in Grazia magazine last week, a brilliant video directed by Quentin Jones that went crazily viral, and a number of celebrity devotees – like Michelle Williams, Katy Perry and Celine Buckens (the newbie Brit actress who stars in 'War Horse') – meant that everyone who was interested (whether VB super-fan or pure fashion fanatic) were prepped and ready to shop. Remember how the debut of Victoria’s eponymous line in the autumn/winter of 2008 flew off rails in Selfridges? Well, imagine that but with a slightly lower price point and you can start to picture the demand in store… Here are the facts from yesterday’s Beckham bonzanza:
- FACT. The pink and black scalloped dress now has a waiting list of 25 people. No wonder when VB’s modelled it so perfectly herself. She is one of the best brand ambassadors a label could wish for!
- The cat print ‘Patch Pocket Tunic’ (of which baby Harper Seven has a mini version) and the cloud print ‘Good Heavens’ dresses are notching up enough sales to be second place.
- People can’t get enough of the window displays and installations that they’re heading back a second time to get more snaps. Just look at those captivated faces. The in-store cute-as cat-head mannequins were dreamt up by Victoria and her new creative sidekick, Quentin Jones, who also created the video.
- We’ve trawled eBay and as yet no Victoria dresses are being listed. This must mean one thing and one thing only – people REALLY want to keep these for their own wardrobes! And we like that buying-to-wear attitude. None of this making money nonsense.
30/01/2011: Victoria, Victoria Beckham Has Arrived at Harvey Nichols!
Looks like we're going need an excuse to leave work early this afternoon. Why? Because VB's sister line Victoria, Victoria Beckham has just arrived at Harvey Nichols. We eeep!
To celebrate the launch, Victoria has collaborated with the super-talented illustrator and film-maker, Quentin Jones, on an installation in the windows of the mega-store [above]. Check out the use of the same 'Victoria Cat' motif that appears on the cutesy dresses — how adorable! — plus ethereal cloudscapes and crescent moons that match the collection.
Have a peek at the First Floor of the Sloane Street store and you'll find the cat theme continues with an installation that Victoria has helped to create. Yep, the collection sits on mannequins with (slightly creepy yet oh-so-cute) cat heads. You'll remember Grazia Daily brought you the exclusive first look at the teaser trailer for Victoria, Victoria Beckham and if you get yourselves to the store, you'll see the full video, featuring a cameo from the multi-talented Lady Beckham herself!
"This new line serves to channel my inner girl," Victoria revealed. "It is fun and young with a distinct sense of humour. The Victoria range can't help but make you smile with its energy and personality." We're sure they'll be more than a few smiley shoppers when they catch sight of this quirky display.
Pretty frocks from the range have already been snapped up by Katy Perry, Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore and mini-Victoria, Harper Seven, who was gifted with a dinky version of the cat-covered tunic. Will you be the latest lady to join the VB crew?
If the answer's yes, here's what to do. V, VB (as we're fondly calling the range) is available exclusively at the Harvey Nichols stores in Knightsbridge and Birmingham so we recommend hot-footing it to one of these sharpish. If you can't, fear not — you can email or call HN customer services on 0845604 1888. Last week, for the lower-priced line and the full film will be arriving any. minute. now. So stay tuned...
