Giles Deacon on Dressing Miss Piggy at the Muppets Premiere: 'She's the biggest diva!'

Regular visitors know that here at Grazia Daily, we're on constant frock-watch. With awards season underway, we've seen some incredible gowns worn by the Hollywood elite. But yesterday, one starlet caught our eye thanks to a very special collaboration...

For the premiere of 'The Muppets' in London last night, Miss Piggy chose a Brit designer to create her red carpet dress: Mr Giles Deacon. Known for being the best dressed Muppet, and with a whole host of designer collaborations under her belt already — we're talking Louboutin, Louis Vuitton and Chanel — we were expecting something fabulous for her big night.

And Giles didn't let Miss P — or us — down, dressing her in a suitably glam metallic frock, straight from his Spring / Summer 2012 catwalk (check it out in the gallery above). The dress is made of silver leather, with hand cut leather-fringing and laser cut detailing, and is embroidered with Swarovski Elements. Glitzy! Topped off with those trademark platinum ringlets, the starlet sure looked hot to trot!

This morning, Grazia Daily spoke exclusively to Giles about the exciting project. "She was the biggest diva we've ever worked with," he revealed. "All the staff had to face the wall when she walked in, the PR said we weren't allowed to look her in the eye. And the most extensive pre-fitting riders we've ever had faxed through". Yikes!

"Miss Piggy has been a fashion inspiration for many years," he continued. "So I thought long and hard about the finest way to bring out her best features. Miss Piggy is a natural in the spotlight and I hope she felt my dress helped her to live out last night in style.”

Miss Piggy certainly likes to get her look just right. Kermit the Frog kept the Twittersphere entertained last night with regular updates as Hollywood's hottest couples got ready for their red carpet outing. "Miss Piggy’s dress was designed by British designer Giles Deacon. Thanks @GilesGilesGiles! If Pig happy, Frog Happy" he tweeted. And later, "I’m almost ready to head to the screening. Just waiting for Miss Piggy…& waiting…& waiting…..Sheesh!" Well, we say it was well worth the wait.
