Kate Middleton Wins Hat Person of the Year — Here's Her Year in Hats!

27 January 2012 by

When it comes to our favourite mad hatters, the line-up of style stunt women springs to mind — we're talking to you Lady Gaga, Anna Dello Russo and Sarah Jessica Parker. But these headgear fanatics have another hat-wearer in their midsts: one Kate Middleton.

Yep, the Duchess of Cambridge officially joins the hat-wearing hall of fame after being announced as "Hat Person of the Year". Congrats to you! The Headwear Association granted this much coveted accolade for the wonderful concotions Kate sported on her head in 2011. The Duchess received over 90% of the public's votes, being rivalled only by Rachel Zoe, who got 4% of the votes. Ouch. Although admittedly, we don't recall La Zoe ever wearing a hat to rival K-Middy's. There's only so many wide-brimmed floppy hats we can take, y'know?

As a winner, Kate's certainly in good company. Previous hat-wearers who've been *ahem* crowned with the award include Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp, who's rarely seen without his trademark fedora.

So let's pay homage to our DoC by having a scroll through the gallery above. There you'll find such beauties as the dainty red number Kate chose for Canada Day, the pringle-esque design she wore to Zara Phillip's wedding, as well as the nude hatlet for a day at the Derby. Hats off to you, Ms Middy! And here's to more Gaga-tastic designs in 2012...
