Elizabeth Olsen Talks Style: 'My Sisters Don't Dress Me'

27 January 2012

An Olsen girl making waves in the fashion world? It’s hardly big news. Twins Mary Kate and Ashley have been darlings of the style scene for years now, topping best dressed lists and even making the jump from muses to designers.

But now, they’ve got competition – from their younger sister Elizabeth. The 22-year-old actress is having a major moment right now. Her debut film 'Martha Marcy May Marlene' is out next week and her performance as a girl who escapes from a cult has had the critics fawning. But her wardrobe is attracting just as many admirers.

From the tiger-print Topshop sweater she wore to Sundance Film Festival last week, to the Chanel gown she rocked at last year’s London Film Festival, Elizabeth (Lizzie to her friends) has already proved she’s got a unique and confident sense of style.

And this week, she’s been spilling the beans on her fashion favourites. She cites Marni and Celine among her go-to designers – as well as Proenza Schouler. ‘I wore an orange floral Proenza Schouler dress that I was, like, obsessed with to the W magazine pre-Golden Globes party,’ she says.

She’s also huge supporter of her sister’s fashion lines, and is often spotted in pieces from their lines The Row and Elizabeth and James (named after their siblings). ‘I always wear leather pants – always from The Row,’ she says.

But – just as she is determined to make her own name in the acting world – she denies looking to her sisters for fashion advice. ‘I don't live with them, and they don't dress me,’ she says. ‘Like, I'm an adult.’
