It was the fairytale marriage we swooned over – but, as we all know, Hollywood doesn’t do Happily Ever After. Nope, not even for Heidi Klum and Seal. After seven years and six (questionable) vow renewal ceremonies, the pair announced their split this weekend. And we’re heartbroken *sniff*
Together, they were one of LA’s most gorgeous couples and had three children together after marrying on a beach in Mexico in 2005. And they didn’t stop at one wedding. The couple renewed their vows on each of their anniversaries – in true Hollywood style. Their increasingly eccentric and extravagant themes ranged from Arabian nights to Elvis (we’re not kidding – have a scroll through the gallery above!). Their children Henry, six, Johan, five, and Lou, two and Heidi’s seven-year-old daughter Leni, from a previous relationship, also dressed up for the occasions, most recently in 2011’s masquerade theme, complete with frills and LOTS of feathers. Gosh.
Seal, 48, who is best known for his single 'Kiss From A Rose', and his German-born supermodel wife were also famous for their notorious Halloween parties and coordinated outfits. We've seen them as terrifying crows, ginormous robots and last year, they were photographed in life-like ape costumes. Another year, she dressed up as a kitten complete with a collar and tag that read: "If found, please return to Seal". Awww.
But, sadly, as rumours began to emerged that their marriage could be in trouble over the last few days, the couple confirmed the marriage – and the fancy dress – is over in a joint statement at the weekend. ‘While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate,’ the statement said.
‘We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition. We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children's sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.’
We’ll miss you guys. Almost as much as we’ll miss the comedy outfits.
