We all like to be ahead of the fash-pack. And now we know how… be a celebrity (obvs), and er, a sample size 2.
The fashion maths was revealed yesterday in the run up to the Oscars, taking place on February 26th. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actresses and models are more likely to snare a couture gown straight from the catwalk if they can fit the tiny sample size. This means they can literally see an outfit on the catwalk… and then be wearing it days later. (Jealous, us?)
‘If you want a custom gown sketched by a designer with beading and embroidery, that can take many weeks to prepare', says PR Marilyn Heston. ‘The only reason a global designer is dressing an actress is to gain exposure that will raise awareness and increase sales.’
But what if – like most of the population – you’re not a wispy size 2, but a more realistic 8-18? Unless you’re best friends with a top designer, it seems your luck will be out. ‘Fairly or unfairly, you have to look at your clients’ figure and ask yourself if they can wear a sample size 2. If they can’t, it’s a big problem,’ one top stylist told the celebrity website.
