Kate Moss in 1993
Is it just us, or does time fly? It doesn’t seem possible that it was almost *GASP* 20 years ago Kate Moss was a teen like the rest of us (ok, not quite like the rest of us), waiting to be whisked into Supermodel-dom. And today, as the original cool Brit gal turns 38, she’s still turning heads. Let's take a look at some of our fave Mossy looks (so far)...

They say it can happen anywhere, and Kate’s lucky break came in 1988 when she was plucked from obscurity by a scout from Storm Model Management whilst travelling through JKF International Airport in New York City on her way home from a trip to the Bahamas. Just a year later and she was already gracing her first cover – The Face – which launched one of the most successful modelling careers Britain has ever seen.

She quickly rose to fame and fortune, becoming the anti-supermodel of her time, with her ‘waif-like’ figure contrasting the curves of already established models like Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell – and even making ‘heroin chic’ popular. No mean feat, if you ask us.

But her career has by no means been plain sailing. And by that, we mean Mossy has stirred up some serious drama in her time. That fresh-faced teen we first saw posing for Calvin Klein ads and dating Johnny Depp wasn’t going to be around for long. She was criticised for claiming 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels' and her party lifestyle plus tempestuous relationship with Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty meant we were just as hooked to Moss Goss whether it was on or off the runway.

With the setbacks and scandals settling down, Kate never fails to impress and make the headlines. She has starred in countless campaigns, including Dior, Stella McCartney, David Yurman and of course, Rimmel London, to name but a few. She’s even turned her hand at designing by launching her own fashion lines, which were snatched off the shelves at Topshop and Longchamp, and has her own fragrance and lipstick range.

And she was back creating a storm in 2011, following a hard-hitting return to the catwalk – cigarette in hand – at the Louis Vuitton show, before getting hitched to her beau, Jamie Hince, at a 'Great Gatsby' themed wedding in the Cotswolds, for which she wore a beaded dress designed by her long-term pal John Galliano. Aww…

So let us know what your fave Mossy moment is. And in the meantime, here’s to you Kate!

Nyree Rose Jones (Tue Jan 17 13:26:16 GMT 2012): I think her most famous outfit, was at Glastonbury in her Hunter wellie boots and denim cut offs. A trend that has been copied by many a festival goer over the past few years and the denim cut offs and wellie boots are now a staple in our festival wardrobe!
I personally loved her look at her 30th birthday with curly hair and glittery eye shadow too.
Happy Birthday Kate x.
