2012 might only just have begun, but here at Grazia Daily we're already looking forward to the new year and the new style stars it's going to bring. But who are we most excited about seeing on the red carpet in the coming months? Well, those of you with your new Grazia magazine will already have seen our five red-carpet names to watch, but those aren't the only ladies we're looking forward to seeing on the red carpet...
We loved this little lady when we met her backstage at the British Fashion Awards in November, and we predict big things for her in 2012. Already a hugely successful model with campaigns for Stella McCartney, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Burberry under her belt, Campbell is currently doing a Lily Cole and juggling her modelling career with a degree in Art History at the Courtauld institute. Expect big things post-graduation.
As the face of Prada’s Candy fragrance, Seydoux starred in what was undoubtedly 2012’s best perfume ad, gliding through a Parisian ballroom doing the Apache. With a role in the just-released 'Mission Impossible' movie and three other projects slated for release next year, Seydoux’s star is certainly on the rise. We love her undone, insouciant French style.
We can’t get enough of this girl. Star of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, Rooney Mara has been wowing us and just about every fashion watcher on the planet with her gothy-chic look at the GWTDT premieres. Wearing a white Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci Couture dress, accessorized with Brian Atwood shoes and that fabulously shiny black hair, her appearance here has single handedly cemented her position as one to watch for 2012.
The Irish actresses on screen talent is unquestionably good (she was awarded an Oscar nomination at 13 for her role in ‘Atonement’) and on the fashion front, she’s ticking our boxes too. We love her choice of labels – Rodarte for the 2011 MET ball, and for the premiere of Violet & Daisy in September, Chanel for the New York premiere of Hanna in April and Miu Miu for the London premiere of The Way Back. This is basically a fantasy hit-list of what we’d wear if we could, and for this reason if no other she makes our list.
It’s Effy from Skins! Only she’s all grown up. Kaya was the only member of the Skins cast to stay in the show from seasons 1-4 and since then has starred as Cathy in Wuthering Heights as well as working on four new projects for release in 2012. Kaya grew up in London and says that ‘clothes are my drug’, proved by her appearance at the Burberry Spring / Summer 2012 show, where she sat behind Kanye West. Next season, expect to see her on the FROW.
Lana Del Rey
We love Lana Del Ray - you know this, we’ve told you often enough – and we’re predicting big things fash-wise for her in 2012. Antonio Berardi spoke exclusively to us about dressing the singer for her second video, saying ‘Ain't I a lucky boy? It has been a while since I have been so excited about the arrival of a new artist’. As well as Berardi, Del Ray has been dressed by Prabal Gurung and Moschino, starred in a fake (but ace) PRADA ad for Wonderland and performed at the Mulberry Spring / Summer 2012 presentation at the Chateau Marmont in LA. And her debut album isn’t EVEN out yet. Watch this space...
