Earlier this week, Grazia Daily was gleefully snooping around Agyness Deyn's auction house New York apartment, gasping at the insane amount of chairs and raising a quizzical brow at that marbled bath and Little Mermaid-inspired bedroom. Now news reaches us that we're set to see a whole lot more of the Brit model as she makes the move from walking the runway to treading the boards.
Yes indeedy, The Independent reports that Agy is set to try her hand in theatre land thanks to a role in 'The Leisure Society'. As yet, no dates have been confirmed for her West End debut, but according to this morning's newspaper, the play is scheduled to begin early next year and will be performed at the 'intimate' Trafalgar Studio 2 in London.
We also know that the play is a 'toxic comedy' offering a 'glimpse into a grotesque world of self-indulgent excess'. Isn't that fitting for the superduper model who's more than familiar with the fashion high life? She’ll be playing a ‘promiscuous free spirit’ called Paula who is invited to the dinner party of a self-obsessed professional couple, which spirals out of control. Dun Dun Duuuun!
In the past few years, La Deyn has sidelined her modeling work in order to hone her acting chops, proving that she ain't just a pretty face. She’s already forged a career in a host of independent films after making her first appearance on the silver screen as Aphrodite in 2010's 'Clash of the Titans'. And she's bagged a couple of Hollywood besties along the way too, including James 'hot' Franco, which can't have hurt. But it is the 'Pusher' remake that will really put Agy's acting abilities on display as she takes a main role — as a stripper.
So can the punky model pull off a theatre role? Might it lead to a glittering career on Broadway? Will Andrew Lloyd Webber be on the blower? One thing's for sure, Grazia Daily will be bagging FROW tickets to 'The Leisure Society' a-sap. See you at the box office!
