We admit it. We love to have a good snoop around people’s houses. We do it to friends, so of course we want to do it to style icon Chloe Sevigny given the chance. And thanks to Opening Ceremony, we can! Chloe has invited her design collaborators into her house – and more importantly, her wardrobe – to film her having a good rummage through her clothes.
Picking out her favourite bits (including a pink '90s Versace suit that reminds her of the Muppets), admitting she’s a total denim addict, pulling out all her retro T-shirts (we spotted the Boy London tee we’ve seen her wear before, that we’re obsessed with), revealing her darker side with all the S&M accessories she bought while bored in LA, and explaining how she destroyed a Proenza Schouler dress by extreme arm-waving dancing, it’s a transfixing set of films.
We love the Alber Elbaz illustrations that line the walls of her walk-in closet, and of course all the pieces from her Opening Ceremony collection, but really, we are much more interested in her apartment! We are surprised at how girly her bedroom is, ‘I love pink, it’s my favourite colour!’, love that she has a whole corner filled with pictures of herself – yup, even Chloe herself admits it’s weird, and are quite taken by the wallpaper.
BUT, can we talk about that stairway of stuff?! 1) Where do those stairs lead? 2) What exactly is in ALL those boxes? 3) Are they ALL shoes? 4) Why does she keep an amazing picture of her and Kate Moss in a stair-well? 5) Can we move in please? We’d be happy to sleep on the stairs so long as we can borrow her clothes…!
