Congratulations to Stella Tennant who has won Model of the Year at The British Fashion Awards 2011!
The gorgeous catwalker has just picked up the gong for a 'British model who has contributed to the international fashion scene in the past year', beating fellow nominees Kristen McMenamy and Georgia Jagger. 2011 has been err, stellar for Stella. She's modelled for Zara's Autumn / Winter campaign and taken to the runway many a time for Karl Lagerfeld. Here's what she had to say after picking up her accolade...
What does it mean to win this award? It’s a huge honour to be recognised by the industry and it started in London a long time ago and it’s very nice to still be here because I still enjoy it.
Could you pick a highlight from those years? Too many, too many!
Do you think there’s more possibility for models over the age of 25 to work in this industry? I hope so because I don’t think fashion should be represented solely by very young women. I thought I’d have a proper job by now but as it is, I’m here representing the middle aged!
We’ve seen you on a lot of Chanel catwalks this year, what do you love about Karl Lagerfeld? He has an incredible energy, his focus on what he does and his brilliant team of people that he works with and that kind of staying power I admire enormously.
What other designers do you enjoy walking for? I haven’t done a lot of shows in London for a while but I like Giles, Erdem and Mary Katranzou is fabulous.
So let's take this opportunity to remember Stella's finest catwalking moments of 2011...
