Congratulations to Mary Katrantzou! If you can think of someone who embodies the idea of ‘an innovative and directional designer who is emerging as an influential force in British fashion in the Ready-To-Wear category’ then surely there couldn’t be anyone on the scene more innovative and directional than the ‘Queen of Hyperrealism’ herself, Greek-born, CSM-trained digital print-cess than Mary.
She has beaten nominees J.W. Anderson, and Peter Pilotto. Mary has had a brilliant year, winning the Swiss Textiles Prize at the end of last year, and going on to celebrate amazing sales and new global stockists this year.
Her floral show at London Fashion Week in September this year reduced many of the assembled press to tears, she truly is a fashion visionary, and so we all say in a loud voice; Well Done Mary!
Next year will include her next - and VERY ambitious collaboration with TOPSHOP - So watch this space!
