Millie Mackintosh gives us a tour of her wardrobe
GD: How would you describe your style?
Millie Mackintosh: I’d say my style is quite feminine but never too Barbie. In the last couple of years, I’ve become more into tailoring and bought jackets with a great cut or a shirt made of great fabric and I’ve invested in statement jewellery rather than just buying loads of pretty mini-dresses.
GD: If YOU could raid anyone's wardrobe, whose would it be?
Millie Mackintosh: I'd really like Miranda Kerr's wardrobe - she has some amazing pieces - and I love Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's boho chic, and Olivia Palermo obviously. She mixes pieces together really well and you can't teach someone that.
GD: If you could walk for any designer, who would it be?
Millie Mackintosh: I'd love to do [Roberto] Cavalli. It's so flamboyant and over the top and sexy. I'd like to do the Victoria's Secret show too. The girls look so beautiful and I love all the wings and the amazing creations. And maybe Gucci or Versace just to walk in those dresses... There's just so many!
GD: Do the producers tell you what to wear on ‘Made in Chelsea’?
Millie Mackintosh: Not at all. They’ll tell us if it’s an evening event or a themed party but I’m never told what to wear. I’ve become good at sourcing my own outfits and like to prepare in advance because there’s the competition of the other girls and if you’ve worn something amazing before, you have to up the game. There’s a lot of pressure.
GD: Where do you find your outfits?
Millie Mackintosh: I check Net-a-Porter and often use a website called Girl Meets Dress which lend dresses. It’s a perfect set-up because I can borrow a gown, wear it, then send it back. I rented a Missoni maxi dress and wore it for the Morocco episode.
GD: Are you nervous about the reaction your outfits will get?
Millie Mackintosh: Before I go to an event where I know there’s going to be press, I get really nervous but you get used to it. It’s mainly the pressure of posing!
GD: Do you read comments about your style on the Internet?
Millie Mackintosh: Yeah, it’s so hard not to but in general, people just want to know where the outfits are from. Everyone has their own opinion and if I feel happy in what I’m wearing, I don’t care. It does hurt if people are horrible but they’re just jealous. Someone on Twitter said that I look fat in my FHM shoot and that’s not cool.
