Millie Mackintosh gives us a tour of her wardrobe

GD: How would you describe your style?

Millie Mackintosh: I’d say my style is quite feminine but never too Barbie. In the last couple of years, I’ve become more into tailoring and bought jackets with a great cut or a shirt made of great fabric and I’ve invested in statement jewellery rather than just buying loads of pretty mini-dresses.

GD: If YOU could raid anyone's wardrobe, whose would it be?

Millie Mackintosh: I'd really like Miranda Kerr's wardrobe - she has some amazing pieces - and I love Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's boho chic, and Olivia Palermo obviously. She mixes pieces together really well and you can't teach someone that.

GD: If you could walk for any designer, who would it be?

Millie Mackintosh: I'd love to do [Roberto] Cavalli. It's so flamboyant and over the top and sexy. I'd like to do the Victoria's Secret show too. The girls look so beautiful and I love all the wings and the amazing creations. And maybe Gucci or Versace just to walk in those dresses... There's just so many!

GD: Do the producers tell you what to wear on ‘Made in Chelsea’?

Millie Mackintosh: Not at all. They’ll tell us if it’s an evening event or a themed party but I’m never told what to wear. I’ve become good at sourcing my own outfits and like to prepare in advance because there’s the competition of the other girls and if you’ve worn something amazing before, you have to up the game. There’s a lot of pressure.

GD: Where do you find your outfits?

Millie Mackintosh: I check Net-a-Porter and often use a website called Girl Meets Dress which lend dresses. It’s a perfect set-up because I can borrow a gown, wear it, then send it back. I rented a Missoni maxi dress and wore it for the Morocco episode.

GD: Are you nervous about the reaction your outfits will get?

Millie Mackintosh: Before I go to an event where I know there’s going to be press, I get really nervous but you get used to it. It’s mainly the pressure of posing!

GD: Do you read comments about your style on the Internet?

Millie Mackintosh: Yeah, it’s so hard not to but in general, people just want to know where the outfits are from. Everyone has their own opinion and if I feel happy in what I’m wearing, I don’t care. It does hurt if people are horrible but they’re just jealous. Someone on Twitter said that I look fat in my FHM shoot and that’s not cool.

GD: Well, we think you look FAB!

We were lucky enough to be invited to the house of Millie Mackintosh recently, where we spent the afternoon nattering on her bed about that scoundrel Hugo before having a good rummage through her wardrobe. She talked us through her favourite fashion items, revealed what’s on her Christmas wishlist, dished on the pressure of dressing well and even Fashion Jury'd herself.

Watch what happened and read our interview:

At the One Day Premiere

Millie Mackintosh: "This is the first big red carpet event I went to – although it was on a pink carpet! I went with Binky and Gabriella who were both wearing dresses but because it was a last minute decision to go, I didn’t have a suitable dress to wear. I didn’t want to wear jeans because that would be too casual so I threw this outfit together. I bought the blazer and shirt from Zara and paired them with shorts and heels I already had. Looking back, I’m really glad I went for something different."

At the Polo and Out and About

Millie Mackintosh: "I love this white dress because I can wear it in so many different ways. I dressed it up with Kurt Geiger wedges for a polo event then wore it with a denim jacket and ankle boots for a more casual look."

Binky's Birthday Party

Millie Mackintosh: "Both the Maje dress and the Zara blazer are so versatile – I’ve got a lot of wear out of them because I mix and match with other pieces. You might have seen me wearing the blazer on the show but I’ll be putting it away until summer because it’s very thin fabric."

Breaking up With Hugo

Millie Mackintosh: "This is the break-up outfit. I chose an enormous Mulberry bag that could’ve had bricks in it! The ankle boots are the same camel colour worn with black jeans and a lace top from The Kooples. It’s quite a saucy outfit for the daytime but you’ve got to look hot when you’re breaking up with someone to show them one last time that they’re an idiot. ‘Watch me walk away in my see-through lace shirt. Bye!’"

Beulah Blue Heart Campaign launch

Millie Mackintosh: "This is a beautiful dress. I didn’t wear it for a red carpet event because it’d blend with the carpet too much. It’s from my friends' (Lavinia Brennan and Natasha Rufus Isaacs) line, Beulah. I wore another of their dresses in the Morocco episode and [a href="/fashion/archive/2011/10/19/grazia-daily-talks-to-kate-middleton-s-new-favourite-designers.htm">Kate Middleton is a fan[/a]. This dress is made of silk jersey and it fitted like a glove so I felt great. I wore it with matching orangey-red lipstick and had my hair blow-dried to the side for some Hollywood glamour."
