Gemma Ward Looks Twenties-tastic in ‘The Great Gatsby’!

There’s a whole TWELVE months to wait before the release of Baz Lurhmann’s adaptation of ‘The Great Gatsby’ so praise be for the steady trickle of teasers to keep us going. So far, we know Carey Mulligan will be dripping with Tiffany jewels as the vivacious Daisy Buchanan, Tobey Maguire will be wearing a dicky bow + straw hat while Leonardo DiCaprio looks droolsome in a classic car. So what’s the latest tit-bit we’ve been treated to?

Yep, it’s Gemma Ward photographed on set looking Twenties-tastic. The Australian has bagged the role of Catherine, sister of Myrtle Wilson (aka: Tom Buchanan’s bonkers mistress), who is played by red-head actress Isla Fisher. Catherine is described in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel as looking like her sister thanks to a ‘solid, sticky bob of red hair’ to match her ‘complexion powdered milky white’ - and although the models’s stuck to her natural blonde locks, her ethereal beauty is the perfect fit for the story’s retro world.

Presumably headed to one of Jay Gatsby’s legendary parties, the shot shows Gemma all glitzed-up in a silver sequinned gown adorned with frothy white feathers. A-top her wonderful marcel waves, check out the complementary cap with a feather sweeping over one shoulder. Dainty jewels accessorise the look as well as a metallic manicure plus silvery lipstick to match. Basically, we love. And that be-suited bloke next to her is pretty dishy too…

If you saw Gemma as a seductive mermaid in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ earlier this year, you’ll know she’s no flash in the acting pan. The Perth-born stunner reportedly retired from catwalking in 2008 to concentrate on her acting career and considering she can already name Johnny Depp AND Leo D-C as co-stars, we say she’s doing a pretty good job.
