Could TOM FORD for H&M be next?

Tom Ford designer

Blimmin’ heck, there’s only one day to go till the Versace for H&M collection hits the stores *gulp* and ALREADY we’re anticipating the hype and excitement of next year, thanks to a sneaky little hint from H&M headquarters. Now the name on fashionable lips for 2012 is *drumrollllllll* TOM FORD ! ! !  The Swedish chain’s creative adviser Margareta van den Bosch said by telephone from Stockholm when asked about the possibility of collaboration with the slicker than slick designer/director; ‘I can say, I wouldn’t mind.’

Ha ha ha ha ha ho ho! We like Margareta’s turn of phrase – ‘I wouldn’t mind’. It’s exactly what we say when we get offered some unbelievably brilliant opportunity. According to Margareta van den Bosch they have not approached Mr Ford and for his part, his office has declined to comment.

It was also revealed that right back to the first one, with Karl Lagerfeld in 2004, all the designer collaboration collections at H&M have sold very well, with many selling out ‘immediately’ – as anyone who left it a  day late to try and snap up a piece of Lanvin for H&M last year – will have learned to their cost. Tom Ford would be another stroke of genius for the brand – in our opinion, one of the key ingredients in the mix when it comes to these H&M collections, is that ‘unattainability’ factor. Karl Lagerfeld is the head of Chanel, for goodness sake, Donatella Versace had been quoted in the past numerous times saying she would never do such a collaboration, and nowadays, Tom Ford works for himself and answers to no man. What a coup it would be!

PS Speaking of Donatella, the latest rumour to sweep twitter is that Her Royal Blondeness herself will be opening the doors at 9am in Regent Street in London tomorrow! We can’t wait!
