M Missoni for OrphanAid Africa

The Missoni plans for world domination continue apace. Hot on the heels of their website-crashingly successful line for Target, the Missoni dynasty has unveiled another collection, and this time it’s M Missoni for OrphanAid Africa. M Missoni has launched a capsule collection for the charity, which helps orphaned children in Ghana, and of which model-actress-designer and Missoni heiress, Margherita, is president.

Launching in Milan on November 10th and in New York on November 15th, as well as exclusively on yoox.com, the collection features the classic Missoni zig-zag in a pink and red colourway over 12 pieces. The line is all super-affordable, with the most expensive piece being a striped trench coat which comes in at 120 Euros (or about £103.3). Bargain!

Missoni has been working on the mainline M Missoni collections with her mother, Angela, for the past year but this venture marks her first solo designed collection, and of course, she also models the line. Talking about the range, Missoni said that ‘the choice of colours was instinctive; it was the combination that I liked the most… Pink is symbolic, it refers to childhood, and red to Africa, and together they were aesthetically pleasing. The pattern in itself is something that is ours, that belongs to us’.
