We’re all CLEARLY obsessed with Tom Ford here, and we’ve heard word for a while now about a documentary about that most dashing of all fashion designers.
Now, joy of joys, the trailer and several quite intriguing clips have been released onto the internet! BRILLIANCE! We are introduced to the idea of the film with the background that it centres around his return to womenswear designing with no small amount of hype, years after leaving Gucci to make movies, and in his own words to experience a sort of midlife crisis after the high pressure environment of designing for Gucci and YSL at the same time.
Here is the trailer for the film outlining the premise, and the emphasising the rarity factor of such footage, and Mr Tom Ford has ‘never let anyone film him like this before’ he also says ‘perfectionism is almost an illness with me’ *THRILLS* !
In clip number two, he explains that a reason for quitting Gucci was that creating 16 collections a year over the two brands Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent was ‘gruelling’ and that he would only consider returning to womenswear if it meant he ‘could have fun doing it’.
In the third clip he talks about the strange feelings and unexpected emotions he experienced when he had left Gucci and found himself in his (doubtless palatial) home on his own with nothing booked into the calendar. Says Mr Ford ‘I didn’t know who I was, I didn’t know what I was supposed to be’
